HIV Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP)

(Reduce the risk of HIV infection after HIV exposure)

HIV PEP (Post Exposure Prophylaxis) is a set of medicines that are taken after a person is exposed to HIV.

This medicine is taken for 1 month and it can reduce the risk of an HIV infection by up to 99%.

However, it only works if it is taken within 72 hours of exposure.

HIV Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP)

(Reduce the risk of HIV infection before HIV exposure)

HIV PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) is a medicine taken to prevent a person from getting infected with HIV.

It has to be taken before a person is exposed to HIV.

Think of it as a vaccine against HIV. As long as a person is taking this medicine, he/she will be protected against HIV by up to 99%.

Early vaccination is effective in preventing STDs or STIs.

Vaccines are available to prevent Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and Hepatitis B.

Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccination:

HPV is a virus that is spread through direct contact or skin to skin contact, sexual contact including vaginal sex, oral sex, anal sex, even handjobs.

Basically, any sexual contact and condoms offer little protection against HPV.

HPV can cause genital warts, cervical cancer, labial cancer, penile cancer, throat cancer and anal cancer
