Being diagnosed with HIV is not the end of the world. Many people who are HIV +ve live long, active, healthy and fulfilling lives. Our Doctors will help you achieve that aim. Getting HIV treatment in Singapore is not as scary as you think.
Here are a few common myths: 1.) HIV treatment in Singapore is very expensive. This is not true. Most of the cost is in the medicines and there is a wide range of medicines available. Of course there are the expensive medicines but there are also medicines that are a lot more affordable. During the first visit, a patient usually requires more blood tests so the bill may be slightly higher. However, as a patient becomes more stable, then number of tests he/she needs becomes less and also tests are done less frequently. So over time, the cost actually becomes less. 2.) MOH (Ministry of Health) will be informed and therefore everybody will know This is also not true. While it is true that for anyone to receive HIV treatment in Singapore, their details will be provided to MOH. It is NOT true that MOH will announce this to the world. In fact, there are strict laws limiting who can be informed of a person’s HIV status. 3.) Foreigners who are HIV +ve cannot come into Singapore This is not true. Foreigners who are HIV +ve can freely enter Singapore like any other tourist. Foreigners who are HIV +ve are not allowed to work in Singapore or become a permanent resident.
